The Pathway to Discipleship is our “doing life together” tool that helps us build both personal and spiritual relationships within the Church. The vision of North Bullitt Christian Church is “to have an urgent passion to reach lost people by sharing Jesus.” Our LIVE242 model based from Acts 2:42, n its simplest, is our mission: BE DISCIPLES and MAKE DISCIPLES. Pathway to Discipleship helps us ensure we accomplish our vision and our mission with every person that enters the doors at NBCC.
We have a Kingdom responsibility for every person that attends North Bullitt Christian Church. Our responsibility is to make certain that we are evangelizing the lost and equipping the saints to become fully devoted disciples. The Pathway to Discipleship will help us do that.
Think of going from point A to point B in your walk with God. Point A would be to have no connection or relationship with God at all, and point B is to be fully engaged as an all-out follower of God and His Son Jesus Christ. All of us are somewhere on that journey, and Pathway is our attempt at providing a step-by-step, easy-to-understand, systematic process of getting from the very beginning to the final destination as a fully engaged follower of Jesus.
We have learned through the years that if people spiritually take the nonchalant method of the guy who just journeys on his own, that they seldom end up being a fully engaged follower of Jesus and if they do it takes way too long. What happens more often than not is they stall out along the way or just give up on the trip altogether. So we have learned that this is a journey, and there is a specific Pathway to take where certain things must happen first, then second, then third, and so on.
The Pathway process has three primary pointes in it. Each of those pointes is two classes long.
First Pointe is called Commitment. The two classes during the Commitment phase will explain how a person becomes a Christian and how they become a member of North Bullitt Christian Church.
Second Pointe is called Connection. The two classes during that phase will explain how to get connected to a small group environment and how to plug into serving in a ministry in the church.
Third Pointe is called Commission. In those two classes we will dive into spiritual disciplines and learn how to become a Bible learner, how to become a faithful giver, and how to become a disciple-maker.
